Describe fulfillment

Another interesting “exploring emotions” type entry…

Mental wellness isn’t limited to exploring uncomfortable emotions. The emotions we enjoy need to be explored too. That way we can come up with a strategy for inviting more of those moments into our lives.

So let’s write about fulfillment.

Fulfillment is not the same as happiness. Lots of things can make us feel pleasure, contentment, and joyfulness. But not everything makes us feel deeply satisfied, accomplished , or full of purpose.

You might define fulfillment differently and that’s okay — it’s your journal👍🏾❤️. But I felt it was necessary to make the distinction between fulfillment and happiness so you know to think deep.

What makes you feel beyond happy? What makes you feel as if all is right in your world?

Here’s my entry:

Fulfillment is a deep sense of accomplished purpose. It’s feeling a that you are exactly where you need to be. It means I’m doing what is right for me. It means I’m aligned.

I haven’t gotten to a place where I can say “I am fulfilled” quite yet. Still, I can imagine what it’s like and I know it’s possible for me.

I get a sense of fulfillment when I’ve done something that’s meaningful to another person. Specifically, something that has inspired them to act, to change themselves, to change their lives, to do that thing they’ve been putting off, or inspiring them to look at life from another perspective…

I feel fulfilled when I’ve been encouraging and inspirational.

It’s my goal to feel like that as often as possible. What’s funny is, I’m not sure when I’ll get to say “I am fulfilled” with confidence. But I know that day will come. I’m not sure how or when, but It’ll be fun when it does.

I feel fulfilled when I’m creating.

Whether that be making art, music, content, characters in video games, anything at all.

Creativity is satisfying.

The act of creating is relaxing and exciting at the same time. But the finished product and the proud feeling I get with it , is everything. Sometimes I think “Wow, I really did that”.

I’m a sensitive person. So sometimes, my emotions really hold tight to me and get on my nerves….. But the ride of excitement, fear, frustration, then accomplishment that creation takes me on is all part of what makes creating so great.

I like to surprise myself and make myself proud. Art allows me to experience the right balance between challenge and ease.
